Started as a diet

I was in control

Somewhere along the way

It stole my soul

My hearts in the distance

I’m out of control

I was trying to be healthy

I gradually lost it all

As I entered the doorway

I knew I was unwell

And I was thinking to myself

This could be heaven or this could be hell

As I stood on the scales

I knew I’d been deceived

The anorexic voice had lied

And I was really peeved

My minds definitely twisted

It was on a roll

My body was dying

It was taking its toll

So I decided to stand up

And put up a fight

I knew it could be tough

But I knew it would be right

People don’t understand this

They think they know it all

But they haven’t carried the load

Or taken the fall

So here I am now

I invite you into my head

Then you’ll have the chance to see

It’s not just a slice of bread

On what’s happening to me

You are able to give me help

Up ahead in the distance

We see a shimmering light

If you’re able to be patient

Things will turn out all right

Day by day I keep fighting

Gradually eases the pain

Taking each day as it comes

Trying just the same

Breaking free of restrictions

I’ll be living my dream

Soon you’ll all see me
